Nowy Styl Group was one of the five award-winning Polish companies that make investments abroad. The jury justified their opinion in the following way: "the award for brave and well-thought-out acquisitions in Europe." The award was received by Adam Krzanowski, President of Nowy Styl Group's Management Board.
‒ A few years ago we decided to concentrate our development on key markets in Western Europe and Middle East. In order to speed up this process, we chose the path of development through making acquisitions of financially healthy foreign companies. Gaining shares by purchasing brands and companies that had well-established positions in the markets has allowed us to increase our sales dynamically and adjust our company to the local character of the markets – explains Adam Krzanowski.
The strategy resulted in the following transactions:
‒ 2011 ‒ we acquired the first German company and included into our portfolio the well-known Grammer Office brand that manufactures ergonomically advanced office armchairs,
‒ 2013 ‒ we made an acquisition of the German company Rohde & Grahl that holds significant shares in the German and Dutch markets,
‒ 2014 ‒ we purchased 50% of the shares belonging to the Turkish production & distribution company TCC – The Chair Company that has a well-established position in the dynamically developing Turkish market,
‒ 2015 ‒ we joined to the Group the Swiss company ‒ SITAG AG that operates dynamically in the Swiss, German and Austrian markets (products manufactured by the brand are not sold in the Polish market).
Currently, 81% of the Group's revenues come from foreign markets.
Camira is our main supplier of fabrics that we use to upholster chair seats and backrests, armchairs, softseating systems and acoustic panels. It is one of the industry's leading companies. It manufactures all fabrics in its own factories located in Great Britain and Lithuania.
- We have been cooperating with Camira for over 20 years now. We value the company for high quality of the supplied materials, well-organised logistics and continuous openness to further development – says Maria Lasek, Purchasing Department Director at Nowy Styl Group. – Camira's employees are excellent experts who help us design modern and beautiful products that are nice-to-the-touch and durable – she concludes.
Using the fabrics supplied by Camira, we create more eco-friendly products. The Synergy and Blazer fabrics are made of wool ("Wools of New Zealand") that guarantees sustainable sheep breeding. Natural farming, recycling and upcycling of materials, as well as energy-efficient production – these are the initiatives for which Camira has received the Queen's Award for Sustainable Development given by Elizabeth II.
Hettich is a German expert in furniture technology. The stop-control-plus system, which ensures drawers in our cabinets and pedestals can be pulled out safely and closed quietly, is one of the furniture elements we are provided with by Hettich.
- We treat Hettich as a partner – we know that the company listens to our needs carefully and provides us with specific solutions, however it also often offers our company innovative mechanisms that improve the quality of our products. Great utility values of the fittings, on-time deliveries and comprehensive technical support ‒ these are the reasons why we have been cooperating with Hettich for more than 10 years now – claims Maria Lasek.
Hettich also belongs to the companies that manage their influence on the local community and the natural environment. The waste recycling indicator amounting to 97% or the energy-saving building in Kirchlengern, where the company's headquarters is located, proves that Hettich is successful in its sustainable development activities.
The chairs made by our Forum Seating brand will be assembled at three stadiums being built for the 2022 Qatar World Championship in football. The other projects have not yet been finalised. The chairs will be manufactured by the company Coastal Qatar at the factory that was opened yesterday in the industrial area of Ar-Rayyan.
From the right: Nishad Azeem – Coastal Qatar CEO, Sheikh Mansour Bin Jabor Al-Thani, Executive Secretary of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy H.E. Hassan Al-Thawadi, Adam Krzanowski – Nowy Styl Group CEO and Jakub Rachfalik – Forum Seating Business Line Director.
The equipment at the Al Bayt (60,000 seats), Al Rayyan and Al Wakrah (40,000 seats each) stadiums was entrusted to Coastal Qatar and announced by the Executive Secretary of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy H.E. Hassan Al Thawadi in the presence of the Minister of Qatar Energy and Industry H.E. Dr. Mohammed Saleh Al Sada.

– I am extremely happy that, on the opening day of Coastal's new factory, we can announce the first projects that we are going to realise together. Our products will definitely be assembled at three stadiums being built for the 2022 World Championship in football. The other projects are not settled yet. The basic model of the Abacus chair will be produced in Qatar, while the range of additional products, such as the VIP armchairs, press seats and conference furniture, will be supplied from Poland – said Adam Krzanowski, President of Nowy Styl Group's Management Board, during the ceremonial opening of the factory in Qatar.
– With our partner in Qatar, we are starting a long-lasting cooperation that will allow us to strengthen our market presence in the Middle East, Asia and North Africa more effectively – concluded Adam Krzanowski.
– We are elated to be the first world-class manufacturer of stadium seats in the region and to fit into Emir's vision at the same time, according to which Qatar's economy should be diversified by 2030. The seats will be manufactured using local resources from the Persian Gulf region – said Nishad Azeem, President of Coastal Qatar's Management Board.
The Al Bayt, Al Rayyan and Al Wakrah stadiums are currently under construction. – We will start by equipping the Al Wakrah stadium. Works connected with preparing the assembly process are scheduled to start in April 2018. It will be a beautiful facility designed by ZahaHadid Architecture that will make symbolic reference to the sea – the arrangement of tribunes will resemble waves made of chairs in three different colours – blue, dark blue and white; the stadium will be covered with a roof that resembles a pearl – said Jakub Rachfalik, Forum Seating Director.
Football fans will sit on Abacus chairs, which are comfortably contoured stadium seats made of polypropylene that ensure a wide distance between rows after folding. They are resistant to various weather conditions and mechanical damages, as proven by relevant tests. The design is eye-catching – the chair was designed for Nowy Styl Group by Rebecca Stewart from the renowned architectural studio Arup. She won the prestigious FX Award for the product – a prize given for international design excellence. The Abacus chairs already provide comfort to football fans in France, Finland, Ireland, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Bulgaria and Poland. They were assembled, for example, at two sports facilities built for the 2016 European Championship in football – in Nice and Lyon.
What products will be installed in the VIP sections? – At the VIP tribunes we are going to assemble higher quality chairs with upholstered pads, which we manufacture in Poland – Abacus Silver, Gold and Oscar VIP, designed by the Polish design studio Charaziak Design. We are also working on special seats for the Royal Family, but we cannot reveal any details yet. Below the seats there will be special ventilation or airconditioning holes that will cool down passionate fans during matches – says Jakub Rachfalik.
It is worth emphasising that Nowy Styl Group's role was not limited to granting Coastal Qatar the licence to produce chairs; the scope of cooperation on the construction of the factory was much bigger. – Our experts took part actively in the process of selecting and testing injection moulding machines for the production of chairs. We advised Coastal Qatar to purchase specific solutions from a manufacturer in Austria, who is a strong leader in the field and whose products are characterised by very high quality. The same models have been successfully used in our factory in Jasło for a few years now, which is why Coastal decided to choose the technology. The forms needed for producing Abacus chairs were created in Poland, especially for their production in Qatar. Our top specialists visited the factory in Qatar many times; together with Coastal's engineers, they worked on setting up the machines, starting up the production line and optimising it. It was very important to us to connect the machines in such a way that the production process would take as little time as possible – within the planned scale of production, this will be crucial. Moreover, the head of the factory in Qatar came to Poland to take part in a training course that was organised for him in Jasło. The last half year has been a very intense period of time, during which we exchanged our knowledge and shared our know-how. However, our role is not limited to the technical aspects. We are supporting Coastal Qatar in the contact they have with the investor, architects and general contractors. We are also preparing complete project documentation – says Jakub Rachfalik. – There is a huge amount of work ahead of us, but we are on the right track to achieving complete success – concluded the Forum Seating Director.

Back by popular demand, once again this year, Mac Stopa brings his stylistic approach to the press office of Interni. In the Immaterial Dream Interni Press Office installation, Mac creates a futuristic dream world that springs from organic, three-dimensional and modular forms, experimenting with new materials and finishes applied to walls, floors and furniture. Tapa and Tauko, products designed for us by Mac Stopa, play a significant role in this exhibition.
The installation features interior design using digital technology, creating a world of futuristic 3D geometries and patterns, furniture and finishes, some whose surfaces dematerialize. Some interior elements are custom designed by Mac Stopa, while others he designed for serial production and integrated them into the design of the installation.
In the design of the press office, Mac expresses his interpretation of the theme of the Material-Immaterial Interni exhibition by creating a virtual and immaterial dimension and challenging the physical perception of the space.
About the theme of the exhibition, Mac Stopa said: - Material-Immaterial, to me, means the freedom to dream about new textures, new shapes and technologies, where the technology inspires me to design new objects, and needs for new design fuels new technology. A great symbiosis between design, technology and creation materializes in the immaterial world.
His design of the press office uses digital technology to create and manufacture new types of wall covering, carpet, reception desk, modular furniture, coffee bar and lamps, creating interiors with movement, deep textures and bold vibrant colors. By applying his 3D patterns on different materials and using different production technologies, combined with new geometries of his modular furniture, Mac brings visitors into a dream world of immaterial virtual reality.
Visitors to the press office are greeted in the blue room’s reception area at the reception desk made from mirrored glass with Mac’s Immaterial Dream 3D translucent mesh pattern, whose surface appears to dematerialize. The blue walls appear to be moving, an optical illusion created by the 3D tessellating pentagonal pattern on the wallpaper, one of several patterns in the Harmony in Motion wallpaper collection designed by Mac Stopa for A.S. Creation. Mac’s Immaterial Dream carpet pattern in blue color produced by M2 Carpets becomes a blend of colors before changing into yellow in the adjoining room, creating three-dimensional flooring resembling stretched polycarbonate mesh.
The yellow room is designated for work and integration. The entire space is furnished with Tauko chairs, Tauko modular tables and award-winning Tapa poufs, all designed by Mac Stopa for Nowy Styl Group. The tables and poufs are based on modularity and tessellating geometries, allowing users to change their functional layout on an as-needed basis. The Tapa pouf, winner of an ICONIC AWARD: Interior Innovation Best of Best 2017 for seating in the “Office and Workplace” category, is a modern solution for use in relaxation areas in offices as well as in public spaces. On the walls in the yellow room, there is a mix of 3D patterns from the Harmony in Motion collection including the pentagonal pattern in yellow color and a three-dimensional circular pattern in white color that covers the door and window frames, adding more movement and deep textures to the interiors.
The coffee bar in mirrored glass with a yellow translucent mesh pattern and the blue reception desk, both produced by Italian glass manufacturer Casali, create an amazing virtual reality effect of 3D mesh floating in the mirrored background. The Tauko bar stools are also designed by Mac Stopa for Nowy Styl Group. The press office is beautifully illuminated with Luceplan’s Hope chandelier and floor lighting and Lady Constanza lamps, as well as Immaterial Dream lamps with an organic shape and futuristic vibe designed by Mac Stopa.
During Milan Design Week (3–9 April) and throughout the following week (10–15 April), you may visit the installation at Università Degli Studi di Milano, via Festa del Perdono 7.
